I began doing weddings completely by accident as a way of supporting myself as a starving artist while living in NYC. I soon discovered that helping people celebrate was a whole lot of fun and more personally rewarding than I ever could have imagined. Now, after 20+ years in the business I can honestly say I create great weddings! It’s everything I ever wanted in a job. It’s creative. It’s fun! And it’s all about love. Every week of my life is different and challenging. I wear my heart on my sleeve, so the cut throat corporate world made me miserable. With weddings as my career…I get to nurture other people and share my love of life. And most importantly…it’s never boring.
What do I do? I Create Great Weddings!
I create great weddings. Plain and Simple. And in order to help you have a great wedding, it is necessary for me to wear many hats (just like many of you do at your jobs). I will help you organize all your crazy thoughts and together, we will create a cohesive plan. We will work on selecting the perfect soundtrack. We will collaborate on writing the perfect personalized introductions for your wedding party members, And finally we will make the day run so smoothly it will seem effortless. This doesn’t just happen by accident. It takes a lot of work and advance preparation. All of these things combined is what makes what I do special and what will guarantee you an amazing celebration, because I will help you stack the deck in your favor!
What to Expect…
Some couples begin searching for and securing their wedding entertainment a full year before their wedding, however most secure their entertainment between 7 to 9 months before the big day. The more in demand your date is, the earlier it will be booked. In Virginia, the most in demand months are: March, April, September and October, followed closely by May, June and November. July and August are HOT!!!! (so you’d best be inside with air conditioning) December, January and February are COLD!!!! (and snow is so much more beautiful when you’re inside in front of a fire looking out the window) Likewise, Saturday is the most in demand day of the week followed by Sunday then Friday. You can usually get good discounts for non-premium days and months.
Once you’ve had a chance to look over my pricing and decide that my services are in your budget, we should get together and chat either in person or via ZOOM or FACE TIME to see if we’re a good match personally. If you decide to reserve my time and talent for your wedding day, I will give you access to my client only portal where you can sign everything and make payments. Additionally, you will have access to all my customized online planning forms including information organization, checklists and music suggestions.
Throughout the planning process will will meet several times to make sure that everything is coming together smoothly regarding your personalized introductions, your event timeline and your music. If I am helping you with your ceremony or if you choose to include voice-over recordings or to ROAST your bridal party…we will be spending a little bit more time together.
I think one of the most important things I will give you is the generosity of my time from the moment you hire me. I will be there via text or email (or phone call) to answer all your questions that will inevitably come up. None of this I’ll get back to you in 24 hours business. I choose to do this because it will give you peace of mind and help you avoid wedding stress.
How I work…
For truly great weddings, my goal is to make the planning process for your wedding just as much fun as the wedding celebration itself. I will incorporate your ideas. I can help you get creative. I excel at making you and your fiancé shine! I want to make everything as easy as possible for you. And I will absolutely showcase your personality, your heart and your soul.
And at the end of the day…I love the personal satisfaction of creating great weddings and I really want your friends and family to have an absolutely amazing time!
And yes…you will be treated like the valuable client you are. I will be just as committed to the success of your wedding day as you are. Why? Because I care.
How can you “Coordinate” and also be a “DJ”?
The fact is, this is relatively easy to do (for me). Certainly, I can’t be in two places at once…but it’s amazing what can be accomplished with today’s technology including remote controls and “pre-mixed” music when I need to be away from the DJ booth. If you have read my vast collection of FIVE STAR REVIEWS, then you can see that my couples’ weddings are as successful as they are because I don’t work with them in a “just music” capacity. I work with my couples to create a truly one of a kind experience.
And for my larger, more elaborate weddings, I will have a team with me to make sure that everything goes smoothly. This team will include designers, florists and a bevy of Minions if necessary. And naturally….if your wedding is more elaborate, you have probably chosen to work with a full service wedding planner and coordinator and I am happy to collaborate with whomever you may have chosen.
If you are looking for wedding reception entertainment that is a little more Offbeat and completely different from anything you’ve ever seen before…you’ve come to the right place.
A lot of DJs will throw the word “personalization” around, but they don’t really do it. And if they try to, they most likely do it at a mediocre level. Allowing you to choose your Grand Entrance song and your First Dance song is not “personalization”…it’s customization. And just because you have a microphone and make announcements doesn’t mean you are a Master of Ceremonies. Again…request video. DJs may use terms like “personalization”, “voice-overs” and “love story” so you might think that they are all the same. They are not. The results are dramatically different.
So…How do I Create Great Weddings?
In order to create great weddings, my approach is to bring my background in theatre to your wedding reception with all the production values I’ve learned in my 20+ years as a professional entertainer.
Thinking outside the box will be applauded, not condemned. Implementing your unique and quirky ideas through collaboration is the best part of my job.
